Slavery Haunts America’s Plantation Prisions - By: Maya Schenwar, Truthout.org
The block of land on which the prison sits is a composite of several slave plantations, bought up in the decades following the Civil War. Acre-wise, it is the largest prison in the United States. Eighty percent of its prisoners are African-American.

God’s Son or Illuminati Hoax? - By: Denmark Vesey, denmarkvesey.blogspot.com
Our political life is a grotesque carnival designed to convince the rubes they live in a democracy. This is so they will pay taxes and lay down their lives for their betters.
In Honor of Joe Biden - By: Michael Fisher, assaultonblacksanity.blogspot.com
The only trick there is that you have to know male/female issues well enough to know what a true role reversal is. For example, the equivalent of a woman being treated as a sex object is a man being treated as a success object. So, a man cannot say, “If a women at work touched me on the rear I’d say ‘thank you’; why does she say ‘sue you’? The equivalent is a woman taking a man’s money, as in going to dinner and expecting to be paid for.
Oh Really? - By: Submariner, soulconviction.blogspot.com
From Mary Dudziak. We know that he certainly exceeds the age threshold. But does John McCain meet the citizenship requirement to become President of the United States? According to legal scholar Gregory Chin, the answer is no.
If Obama Wins, Who Will Be in His Cabinet — And Who Should Be? - By: Jim Hightower, AlterNet.org
Obama’s advisers will be the ones whispering in the president’s ear and pulling the levers of executive power.
Immigration: Too Hot for the Dems? - By: Roberto Lovato, AlterNet.org
America’s brutal immigration detention network is getting little attention from Democratic reformers and their institutional allies in Denver.

Will I vote for Obama? Yes. Because I believe in this bumbafuck political system? Hell No!!! Listen, I really, really, really wanna believe the Obama’s. Trust when I tell you. But dammit man, we’ve been burnt way too many times to not be cautious. Nah mean? But anyhow, imma vote for dude because I’m a firm believer in planting seeds for a brighter future. That instant gratification shit most Americans are on is so counterproductive and selfish. What about the children? Didn’t ODB teach us anything when he rushed dat stage? I digress. What I’m really saying is that adding president to the list of achievable goals will be great for black and brown babies. Let’s try to diversify their dreams for them because either you’re slingin crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot is no longer acceptable. Voting for Obama is one of the steps I am taking to help make that possible, even though I don’t believe in shit these mofos say. And that includes everybody…pick someone and I’m talking bout them too. Anyway, I’m trying not to cut my nose to spite my face, is what I’m doing in case you’re wondering where I really stand. We gotta give to get, and I’m giving my vote to get some -ahem – change going.
Now enjoy the elegance, strength, and intelligence I continuously strive for:
Retweet this postYour Whiteness is Showing
I really dig this dude. Now let me be clear. There are many white “progressives” who do amazing and necessary work exposing the injustices of the institutions and systems that makeup the framework of this great nation (cough, cough). But when asked challenging questions about race, specifically white privilege and the new colonialism that many impose on non-whites under the guise of liberalism, we hear crickets coming from their direction. And pleading the fif is what Tim Wise is calling his White brethern and sistern out on. His essays and speeches unapologetically reminds Whites, himself included, that accountability is in order and making changes must be done. Not now, but right now! Now I’m sure one is wondering how that can happen. How can a minority get the majority to actually make paradigm shifts that will make this world a better place? At least a more honest one. Well, it’s a simple answer; one that is soooo much easier said than done, but worth it if you are truly comitted to living a life that is reflective of progressive ideals. In other words, practice what you preach. Now for the answer: change comes from within. Sure there are talented groups of people who are natural motivational speakers and can really evoke thought, but at the end of the day, we are all responsible for ourselves.
This essay is one that all genders can take heed to, but ladies, this one’s for you!!!

Your Whiteness is Showing:
An Open Letter to Certain White Women
Who are Threatening to Withhold Support From Barack Obama in November
June 5, 2008
This is an open letter to those white women who, despite their proclamations of progressivism, and supposedly because of their commitment to feminism, are threatening to withhold support from Barack Obama in November. You know who you are.
I know that it’s probably a bad time for this. Your disappointment at the electoral defeat of Senator Hillary Clinton is fresh, the sting is new, and the anger that animates many of you–who rightly point out that the media was often sexist in its treatment of the Senator–is raw, pure and justified.
That said, and despite the awkward timing, I need to ask you a few questions, and I hope you will take them in the spirit of solidarity with which they are genuinely intended. But before the questions, a statement if you don’t mind, or indeed, even if (as I suspect), you will mind it quite a bit.
First, for those of you threatening to actually vote for John McCain and to oppose Senator Obama, or to stay home in November and thereby increase the likelihood of McCain winning and Obama losing (despite the fact that the latter’s policy platform is virtually identical to Clinton’s while the former’s clearly is not), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…
For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and increase the odds of his winning (despite the fact that he once called his wife the c-word in public and is a staunch opponent of reproductive freedom and gender equity initiatives, such as comparable worth legislation), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…
For those threatening to vote for John McCain or to stay home and help ensure Barack Obama’s defeat, as a way to protest what you call Obama’s sexism (examples of which you seem to have difficulty coming up with), all the while claiming to be standing up for women…
Your whiteness is showing.
